About Me

Hi. I'm Rachel, and I love antiques. One reason I love antiques is because each piece has a story that can help us to connect with history. When I admire a Whiting and Davis art deco handbag, I wonder about the woman who owned that bag. Did she dance at the speakeasies in the '20s? Struggle through the Great Depression? Go to work in the factories during World War II? For me, understanding an item's historical context and visualizing the people and events surrounding it helps to bring clarity to today's world. It helps me to recognize patterns and expect certain outcomes. This became a very grounding tradition for me when I began to experience major cognitive and existential shifts.

After years of cognitive dissonance, I began to learn about abuse and control systems. I soon faced the trauma of a crumbling belief system. Relationships changed and ended; I experienced a crisis of faith, and my political views and social values were challenged. It was a lot. It is hard for anyone to revise their beliefs and admit to themselves that their reality might not be based in truth. Through years of study, I gained a passion for seeking truth and clarity in all areas of life. Now I hope to help others do the same.

When I think about what helped me most in overcoming existential crises and in gaining clarity, I realize that it comes down to obtaining three things - sovereignty, truth, and integrity:

Sovereignty is self-ownership. Sovereign beings are free to control their own minds, bodies, and actions. They are free of control systems and the judgments of others. Just a few topics we will explore in this area include undue influence, abuse and coercion, propaganda, cultism, existential crises, and cognitive dissonance.

There can be no clarity without truth. Truth seekers are the most likely individuals to obtain clarity because they are always asking questions and finding new information. They recognize patterns in daily life, in relationships, and throughout history. They also have the humility to adjust their views when they encounter new and reliable information. Just a few topics we will explore in this area include evaluating academic research, finding trustworthy news sources, signs of manipulation, paradoxes, and confirmation bias.

Finally, there can be no clarity without integrity. People with integrity are whole, cohesive beings. They take responsibility for themselves, and their actions align with their beliefs. This brings peace and confidence. Some of the topics we will explore in this area include stoicism, consistency, peer pressure, and grit.
